Hunting Expands Opti-TEK™ Portfolio with HydraShock™ and HydraCut™ Coiled Tubing Recovery Technologies

Hunting announces a global license and distribution agreement with Tenax Energy Solutions for the patented HydraShock™ and HydraCut™ technologies, expanding Hunting’s Opti-TEK™ well intervention portfolio with specialized downhole recovery and severance systems engineered to improve coiled tubing recovery operations in complex intervention environments.

Coiled tubing recovery challenges remain among the most operationally disruptive and costly issues encountered during well intervention, often resulting in extended non-productive time, increased recovery complexity, costly fishing operations, and premature tubing abandonment. The addition of HydraShock™ and HydraCut™ strengthens Hunting’s intervention offering with technologies specifically developed to address high-risk pipe-recovery scenarios while supporting safer, more controlled intervention execution.

HydraShock™ is designed to help free restricted coiled tubing and bottom hole assemblies by generating controlled downhole shock events directly at the restriction point. The system is capable of delivering multiple jarring cycles during a single intervention run, reducing reliance on more invasive recovery methods and helping operators avoid costly tubing losses, extended intervention time, and additional recovery operations.

HydraCut™ complements the recovery system by enabling through-reel-valve severance of coiled tubing near the restriction point, allowing operators to perform controlled downhole cuts without severing tubing above the injector. This approach reduces surface handling exposure during recovery operations, improves operational safety, and increases the likelihood of recovering substantial lengths of valuable coiled tubing and bottom hole assembly components.
